Palladio Homes™
Charleston, South Carolina's
first Energy Star®
Partner |
Palladio
Homes™ is the first homebuilder in lower South Carolina to make
a 100% commitment to the federal government's Energy Star®
standards, and thus became the first homebuilder in the Charleston
Area to be designated an Energy Star®
Partner. Even more, in 2003 we made history upon building
Charleston's first homes ever to earn the Energy Star®
qualification.. Energy Star® qualified
new homes are certified to meet the EPA's strictest guidelines for
energy efficiency, and certification is verified by an independent
third party. Furthermore, all Energy Star®
qualified new homes receive the Energy Star®
label, indicating to homebuyers that these energy-efficient homes
are more comfortable, more durable, more valuable, cost less to
own, and are friendly to the environment.
What are the Energy Star®
energy efficiency guidelines for new homes?
To earn the Energy Star® label, a
home must be verified to be at least 30% more energy-efficient in
its heating, cooling and water heating than a comparable home built
to the 1993 Model Energy Code (MEC), and 15% more efficient than
the state energy code. The Energy Star®
label is earned only after the home's energy efficiency is verified,
either by an independent third-party such as an accredited home
energy rater or Builder Option Package (BOP) verifier, or by adhering
to the quality control procedures established for HUD-code manufactured
homes.
